Herman's Rough Week
Missing the Point: Herman Cain Faces Onslaught of Attacks on Personal Character
Steve Stakem, The Orator Network, November 4, 2011

WASHINGTON - GOP Presidential Candidate Herman Cain has been hit hard in the news this week. Much of it seems entirely baseless and unprovable. Therefore, what should be a non-story has been in headlines all week in almost every major news source. Even Fox is having a field day with the so-called "sexual harassment claims".

Today, Capitol Hill Blue in an article headlined "Cain uses power, money to buy his way out of trouble" is ratcheting up the attacks.

"[Cain's] past is littered with payoffs, bribes and financial incentives to buy employee loyalty, fix problems and curry favor", the website claims.

"As President of the National Restaurant Association in Washington, Cain racked up huge travel entertainment bills that angered members of the association's board of directors, drew attention from auditors and fostered a reputation that money was no object.

"Cain hosted drunken parties where lobbyists for the association used lots of booze to influence both members of Congress, state legislators and members of his own board." ... Full Story Here ...

Next week will likely see more news stories slamming the new GOP "front-runner" for his business tactics, lobbying efforts, alleged treatment of women and who knows what else. All of this is smoke and mirrors.

What we won't see much of is an attack on the candidate's biggest problem: His flawed 9-9-9 tax plan which includes both an income tax and a national sales tax. Although the idea has a nice ring to it, would lower the corporate tax and would simply the income tax code, it includes a "hidden fourth nine" as argued by economist Peter Schiff and others, despite some favoribility to the current system.

In addition, the 9-9-9's nine percent sales tax will burden consumers at checkout counters across the country, while giving jokers in Congress an open door to raising this new tax vehicle down the road and offers the possibility to future value added taxes at various stages of product production. A Democrat-controlled Congress in the future, mixed in with the support of left-wing, big-government Republicans could produce a greater tax nightmare than already exists.

Mr. Cain is also soft on the Federal Reserve, the U.S. central bank that has manipulated interest rates and debased the value of the U.S. Dollar at almost every turn since its unconstitutional inception in 1913. Cain portrays himself as a "political outsider" while he was very much an "insider" during his role at the Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank in the 1990s. His take that the Fed is not a major cause of the current state of the U.S. economy is not only disingenuous, but outright dangerous.

Doing nothing to rein in the central bank will speed up the destruction of the world's reserve, albeit, fiat currency. The printing of money out of thin air will continue and deficits will continue to soar.

The media can continue the effort to shake down Herman Cain's character, but it will continue to miss the point.

More on Herman later. As for now I'll leave you with this ...
