Mr. ROYCE) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee
on Transportation and Infrastructure
A BILL
To direct the Secretary of Transportation to make grants to Orange
County, California, for intercounty express bus service, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United
States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. INTERCOUNTY EXPRESS BUS SERVICE.
The Secretary of Transportation shall make grants under section 5309 of title
49, United States Code, to Orange County, California, for the purchase of
46 buses and related equipment for intercounty express bus service for the
following routes:
(1) State Route (SR) 57 Corridor- Industry to Anaheim Resort.
(2) SR-91 Corridor- Corona to Anaheim Industrial.
(3) SR-91 Corridor- Riverside to Anaheim Resort.
(4) SR-91 Corridor- Riverside to South Coast Plaza.
(5) SR-91 Corridor- Riverside to University of California Irvine.
(6) Long Beach to South Coast Metro.
(7) San Clemente to South Coast Metro.
(8) Long Beach to Orange.
SEC. 2. AUTHORIZATION OF APPROPRIATIONS.
(a) IN GENERAL- There shall be available to the Secretary of Transportation
from the Mass Transit Account of the Highway Trust Fund to carry out this
Act $2,520,000 for fiscal year 2004, $2,520,000 for fiscal year 2005, $3,040,000
for fiscal year 2006, $3,040,000 for fiscal year 2007, $3,560,000 for fiscal
year 2008, and $3,560,000 for fiscal year 2009. Such sums shall remain available
until expended.
(b) CONTRACT AUTHORITY- A grant approved by the Secretary under this Act is
a contractual obligation of the United States Government to pay the Government's
share of the cost of the project.
