following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Transportation and

A BILL
To direct the Secretary of the Army to convey certain land in Georgia
and South Carolina to the counties in which the land is located, and for other
purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United
States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the `Savannah River Lakes Private Land Ownership
Restoration Act'.
SEC. 2. CONVEYANCE OF CERTAIN LAND IN GEORGIA.
(a) IN GENERAL- Not later than 90 days after the date of enactment of this
Act, the Secretary of the Army shall transfer the land described in subsection
(b), without consideration, by quitclaim deed, all right, title, and interest
in such land to each county that has within its boundaries the land in subsection
(b).
(b) LAND DESCRIPTION- The land referred to in subsection (a) is as follows:
(1) J. STROM THURMOND DAM AND LAKE- Land owned by the Corps of Engineers
that constitutes the J. Strom Thurmond Dam and Lake project that is--
(A) 330 feet above mean sea level; and
(B) within the boundaries of--
(i) McDuffie, Wilkes, Elbert, Columbia, and Lincoln Counties, Georgia;
and
(ii) of McCormick and Abbeville Counties, South Carolina.
(2) RICHARD B. RUSSELL DAM AND LAKE- Land owned by the Corps of Engineers
that constitutes the Richard B. Russell Dam and Lake project that is--
(A) 475 feet above mean sea level; and
(B) within the boundaries of--
(i) Elbert County, Georgia; and
(ii) Abbeville and Anderson Counties, South Carolina.
(3) HARTWELL DAM AND LAKE- Land owned by the Corps of Engineers that constitutes
the Hartwell Dam and Lake project that--
(A) is 660 feet above mean sea level;
(B) within the boundaries of--
(i) Hart, Franklin, and Stevens Counties, Georgia; and
(ii) Anderson and Oconee Counties, South Carolina.
(c) SURVEY TO OBTAIN LEGAL DESCRIPTION- The exact acreage and the legal description
of the real property described in subsection (b) shall be determined by a
survey that is satisfactory to the Secretary of the Army.
