introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Appropriations
A BILL
Making an emergency supplemental appropriation for disaster relief
activities associated with the California wildfires.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United
States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the `California FIRE Act'.
SEC. 2. EMERGENCY SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATIONS.
(a) APPROPRIATION- There is appropriated to the Department of Homeland Security,
Emergency Preparedness and Response Disaster Relief, out of any money in the
Treasury not otherwise appropriated, for the fiscal year ending September
30, 2004, $500,000,000 for `Disaster Relief' activities associated with the
California wildfires, to remain available until expended.
(b) EMERGENCY DESIGNATION- The amount provided in this Act is designated by
the Congress as an emergency requirement pursuant to section 502 of House
Concurrent Resolution 95 (108th Congress).
