A BILL
To require the Secretary of Labor to declare that operating power
driven amusement park rides is a hazardous occupation for the purposes of
certain child labor provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United
States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the `Amusement Park Ride Child Labor Act of 2004'.
SEC. 2. DECLARATION OF HAZARDOUS OCCUPATION.
For the purposes of section 3(l) of the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 (29
U.S.C. 203(l)), the Secretary of Labor is directed to find, and by order declare,
that operating power driven amusement park rides is particularly hazardous
for children between the ages of 16 and 18.
