the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on
Appropriations
A BILL
To appropriate $160,500,000 for the Department of Veterans Affairs
to improve security for personal data of veterans and other persons held
by the Department of Veterans Affairs and to provide remedial assistance
to veterans and other persons who have had personal data stolen from the
Department of Veterans Affairs.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United
States of America in Congress assembled, That the following sum is
appropriated, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated,
for the Department of Veterans Affairs for the fiscal year ending September
30, 2006, namely:
DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS
Departmental Administration
GENERAL OPERATING EXPENSES
For an additional amount for `General Operating Expenses' for necessary
expenses to improve security for personal data of veterans and other persons
held by the Department of Veterans Affairs and to provide remedial assistance
to veterans and other persons who have had personal data stolen from the
Department of Veterans Affairs, $160,500,000: Provided, That the
amount under this heading shall remain available until expended: Provided
further, That the amount provided under this heading is designated
as an emergency requirement pursuant to section 402 of H. Con. Res. 95 (109th
Congress), the concurrent resolution on the budget for fiscal year 2006.
