Limbaugh Likes Paul Plan
It's Probably Temporary, But Rush Gives Constitutionalist Conservative Candidate Some Props on Fiscal Power
Steve Stakem, The Orator Network, October 18, 2011

After catching this online last night I thought I was in the "Twilight Zone" ...

It seems radio's most-listened to talk show host, Rush Limbaugh, was endorsing GOP Presidential Candidate Ron Paul's budget plan before it was to be announced later in the day. This is quite a surprise from someone who referred to the 12-term Congressman as "nuts on parade."

Limbaugh loves to speak about his Constitutionalism and conservatism and wields a major influence on the thoughts and actions of GOP voters, especially in the gear-up to a new primary season at the state polls. Rush usually likes to dismiss Ron Paul as a non-serious candidate - and he does that on the rare occasion when he isn't ignoring him - but today was as strange as it gets. He actually talked-up Paul's plan to cut $1 Trillion out of the budget in his first year and remarked that these are just the ideas which could bring some solvency to the U.S. fiscal nightmare.

Of course, he had to get his dig in on Paul with his caller, saying he wouldn't believe his answer to the question and that "Ron Paul has a good idea." Limbaugh then want on to say that Paul "is about to show the Republican presidential field what a serious fiscal reform plan looks like."

Now Ron Paul supporters should take this endorsement for what it's worth. Don't get your hopes up. Limbaugh, despite his espoused political philosophies, support for the Constitution and disdain for Liberalism, could just as quickly dismiss Mr. Paul and go back to one, ignoring him and two, bashing him. If he sticks to it, I'd be surprised.

Also, Rush went on to misinform his listeners in a claim that Ron Paul is "stealing that idea" of freezing spending to 2006 levels. More on that here.
