A BILL
To provide for the full funding of Federal Pell Grants.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United
States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the `Pell Grant Full Funding Act of 2001'.
SEC. 2. AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS FOR FULLY FUNDING FEDERAL PELL GRANTS.
(a) AMENDMENT- Section 401 of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C.
1070a) is amended by adding at the end the following new subsection:
`(k) AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS- Each fiscal year there shall be available to
the Secretary, from funds not otherwise appropriated, such amounts as may be
necessary to pay to each student the amount for which such student is eligible
under this section.'.
(b) CONFORMING AMENDMENT- Section 401(b)(3)(A) of such Act is amended by
striking `for which an appropriation Act provides a maximum basic grant in an
amount in excess of $2,700'.
END
