A BILL
To amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to confer citizenship
automatically on children residing abroad in the legal and physical custody
of a citizen parent serving in a Government or military position abroad.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United
States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. CITIZENSHIP STATUS OF CERTAIN CHILDREN RESIDING WITH UNITED STATES
CITIZEN PARENTS ABROAD.
(a) IN GENERAL- Section 320(a)(3) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8
U.S.C. 1431(a)(3)) is amended by inserting before the period the following:
`, or is residing abroad in the legal and physical custody of a citizen parent
who is serving in a military or other Government position abroad'.
(b) EFFECTIVE DATE- The amendment made by subsection (a) shall apply to children
adopted before, on, or after the date of enactment of this Act.
