Committee on Science
A BILL
To reestablish the Office of Technology Assessment.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United
States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE AMENDMENT.
The first section of the Technology Assessment Act of 1972 (2 U.S.C. 471 note)
is amended by striking `Technology Assessment Act of 1972' and inserting `Office
of Technology Assessment Reestablishment Act of 2003'.
SEC. 2. AUTHORIZATION OF APPROPRIATIONS.
Section 12(a) of the Office of Technology Assessment Reestablishment Act of
2003 (as so renamed by section 1 of this Act) (2 U.S.C. 481(a)) is amended
by striking `$5,000,000 in the aggregate for the two fiscal years ending June
30, 1973, and June 30, 1974, and thereafter such sums as may be necessary'
and inserting `$20,000,000 for each of the fiscal years 2004 through 2009'.
